Vincent Edwin Romano M.D.
Dr. Vincent Edwin Romano a long time resident of Bristol, Pa died Wednesday morning May 5, 2010. He was 98.
Dr. Romano was born December 19, 1911 to Felix and Emmanuela (Spagnuolo) Romano in Newark, NJ. His mother died when he was 10 days old of post partum infection. He was lovingly raised and doted on by his stepmother Emilia (Cantrella) Romano. He attended Columbia University when he was 16 years old and then went on to medical school at Long Island College of Medicine (SUNY) graduating in 1939. He had a few years of adventure with the Merchant Marines, hoping to travel around the world, but his dreams were dashed by WWII. He served as a physician in the Navy and was discharged in 1946. Vincent married Mary Spann Romano of Far Hills, NJ and they settled on Radcliffe Street in Bristol Boro, where he set up his medical practice. Dr. Romano retired on June 1, 2001 from his practice at the age of 90 1/2.
He had spent the last 3 1/2 years enjoying the hospitality of his daughter and son-in-law’s family, Bernie, John, Cory and Molly Snearowski of Somerville, NJ. His greatest joys in life were interacting with his patients, daily Mass and his devotion to the Blessed Mother.
