October 29, 1922 - April 25, 2018
Doris Eysenbach, age 95, of Bristol, PA, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2018. She was born October 29, 1922 on a farm in the mountains of North Carolina to the late James Harrison and Mary Ethel (nee Vannoy) Davis in Purlear, NC. Doris proudly served in the US Navy during World War II as an airplane instrument mechanic, Aviation Machinist's Mate, Third Class. She was married May 13, 1944 at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, VA to George Eysenbach, US Coast Guard, Machinist's Mate, First Class. They were both very proud of their service to our country. George passed away November 26, 2013. Doris was also predeceased by daughters Karen and Heidi and nine siblings. She was the last of ten brothers and sisters. Doris is survived by her children: Karl Eysenbach (Linda), Kurt Eysenbach (Marie), Frieda Jessup (Larry), Eric Eysenbach (Donna) and Gretchen Bicking (Eric); 11 wonderful grandchildren: Eric'Boo', Scott, Michelle, Todd, Heather, Cara, Aaron, Eryn, Drew, Ian, Candice along with their significant others and 14 adorable great-grandchildren and another on the way. Doris was always thinking of others and will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She was primarily a homemaker, but was a very active volunteer for many organizations. She was the best room mother any Maple Shade school kid could have had. She taught swimming to young children for over thirty years at the Dolphin Swim Club. She also taught adult literacy to help many prepare to attain their GED or to get their driver's license. She and husband, George, loved traveling and had a special interest in covered bridges and visited over 500 bridges in the US and Canada. She was an avid speed reader and thought everyone should be able to read. She loved gardening and sports. She especially loved watching sporting events of her children and grandchildren and the other children in her life. She loved the PHILLIES, FLYERS, STEELERS and would tolerate the EAGLES. She had to watch every game! The family would like to give special thanks to her friends and staff at Lower Bucks Hospital for the exceptional care and friendship she and George received there over the years. And also to very special neighbors. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Molden Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service and will be held privately at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Silver Lake Nature Center, 1306 Bath Rd, Bristol, PA 19007 or to VITA Education Services, 8 E. Court St, Doylestown, PA 18901, VITAeducation.org.
